Hi There!
Thanks for being here! Before you get into my mini-memoir below, here's the highlight.
I attribute a lot of my success to the lessons I learned from my dance background. I loved being able to express myself and connect with the community through recitals, local events, and nursing home performances. Growing up as a dancer mainly taught me to let my creativity to flow freely, how to apply structure and discipline to my everyday life, and most importantly, to get back up when I fall down! My greatest accomplishment (written in this color) all comes back to these skills.
My Story
After graduating from SUNY Oneonta, I became a dance teacher and studio manager at Great Expectations - A Dance Center in Staten Island, NY where I had been dancing since age 3. By working the front desk, I learned the importance of conflict resolution, budgeting, marketing, and even event planning. Everything changed when 2020 hit though and we had to get very creative. I acted as a pseudo-IT rep when we transitioned to Zoom classes so that we could continue dancing safely. At the end of the year, I even added video editing to my repertoire so that our students could still share their hard work with their family. This was not an easy task, but knowing that this video was going to be a beacon of light during a hard time pushed me to rise to the occasion. Unfortunately, the studio closed down the following season due to the ongoing effects of the pandemic.
Once the studio closed, I took on various odd jobs while searching for a job in the media industry. Eventually I found myself as a content creator/social media coordinator at MPlus Creative in Fort Lee, NJ. As someone who was already used to fast-paced environments, I quickly became an asset to this company. During my second week, I was already conducting on-screen interviews. In this position, I created social media content, conducted research to write mindful interview questions, conducted those interviews, wrote advertorials, and even a few press releases.
My boss saw value in me from the beginning and I soon transitioned into a higher-level position as a Media Relations Associate. I started working closely with our clients to find out what services would be most useful for their needs and following up with appropriate proposals. During this time, I also began writing scripts to use as voice overs for varying campaigns. I even wound up doing the voice over most of the time, which I had a blast with.
The highlight of this position though has been working on a proposal for an anamorphic, community-focused billboard entitled INTERACT FORT LEE. What started out as a mere seedling of an idea is soon becoming a reality. I can't even put a number to how many PowerPoint presentations I made for this project to come to life. Though I had never presented anything like this before, it came naturally to me. After many months and many, MANY edits, I presented our pitch to the investors, local non-profits organizations, as well as the Mayor and council members of Fort Lee, we achieved our first set of approvals. With all of this under our belt, the last approval we needed was from the state, which we proudly received at the end of 2022. While it was a collaborative effort between myself and two other (strong) women, I can proudly say that this major accomplishment would not have happened without me!
If you've made it this far, thanks for sticking around! If you want to get to know me better, feel free to reach out.
